8. Unexplained Weight Loss

Losing weight without changing your diet or exercise routine can sometimes indicate an underlying health problem, including cancer. An unexplained loss of 10 pounds (4.5 kg) or more should be discussed with a healthcare provider.

9. Persistent Pain

Pain that lasts for weeks or months without an obvious cause should never be ignored. Persistent headaches, back pain, bone pain, or abdominal pain can occasionally be associated with certain types of cancer and deserve medical evaluation.

10. Difficulty Swallowing

Trouble swallowing that continues or worsens over time may be linked to cancers of the throat, esophagus, or stomach. If eating or drinking becomes increasingly difficult, consult a healthcare professional promptly.

11. Persistent Cough or Hoarseness

A cough lasting more than three weeks, coughing up blood, or ongoing hoarseness can be signs of lung, throat, or laryngeal cancer. These symptoms are not always caused by cancer, but they should be checked by a doctor.

12. Unusual Bleeding or Discharge

Unexplained bleeding—such as blood in the stool or urine, unusual vaginal bleeding, coughing up blood, or nipple discharge—should always be evaluated. Although these symptoms often have non-cancerous causes, they can also be early warning signs of cancer.
